Gee, my trend of late blog posts seems to continue.
As you may recall, the week started off with Labor Day. You can read all about our parade festivities in last week's post.
So that brings us to Tuesday, Bennett's first official day of school. We took the obligatory first day of school picture and then hopped in the car. For us, this wasn't as big a deal as it is for some since his preschool is at his regular daycare. He just has a bit more structured learning now.
Before we got to school though we had to go to the public school so that Bennett could have a speech evaluation. When he turns three he ages out of Early Intervention where he has currently been receiving speech therapy. However, just because he received Early Intervention doesn't mean that he qualifies for services from the public school system. But within just a couple minutes of him speaking with the therapist she was able to determine that he needed help with articulation. So now we have other meetings, etc to get him ready for to start in a couple of weeks.
The rest of the week was pretty quiet until Saturday when we went to Sturbridge for their event called Drummers' Call. And even better, Grandpa came with us! We hadn't told him that Grandpa was coming (because if we had, it would have been non-stop asking of when he would be there) so he was very excited to see Grandpa's car pull into our driveway.
One of the extra things you can do at Sturbridge is go on a short boat ride. It costs extra so we had only done it once before. (The stagecoach is also an extra fee.) But Grandpa had a coupon so that he could ride for free so we decide to go for it.
Out on the river there was a log with lots of turtles on it.
But the best part of the day, at least for Bennett, were the fifes! Right after lunch they started processing around the village and then each group had the opportunity to perform. We watched a couple of performances but then we had to head home for a quick (30 minute) car nap and then a haircut.
On Sunday we took Bennett to have his 3 year portraits taken. And nope, no sneak peaks. You'll have to wait until we get them back. Hard to believe he's just about 3!

More pictures of the little one
We went back today for a Fetal Echocardiogram. Pretty much everything looks good. And apparently all babies have holes in their hearts. They need them in utero, and then they usually heal when born. Anyway, there is some slight "leaking" as the blood flows between two of the chambers of the heart, but the doctor said it's nothing to worry about; it's not something that concerns him. This was wonderful news! Just to be safe, we go back in another 4 weeks to get another look. Oh, and the heart is now about the size of a quarter. Definitely a lot bigger than a few weeks ago when it was the size of the tip of your pinkie.
And then after the fetal echo, they did a very quick ultrasound. I liked one of the profile pictures so I asked if we could have it, and then she kept printing more. She printed out 8 for us- here are my favorite three. But we were shocked. In the past we've only walked out with one or two pictures. I think the one with the feet is my favorite of all of them.

Fabulous News!
I just got a call from the genetic counselor. The FISH test came back and Baby doesn't have Downs, Trisomy 18, or Trisomy 13. Still need to wait to get the full results back to see if there is a genetic anomaly on any of the other markers.
How weird though to be excited that Baby may "just" have a hole in its heart?
