Week 13 Journal

How far along? 13 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: Same as last week. Woo hoo! Finally a week of no change.
TP test: Just over 9 squares, maybe 9 1/2 squares.
Maternity Clothes: Ugh. Lots of my existing clothes are tight or don't fit at all. As I find things that don't fit anymore I'm taking them out of my closet and putting them into a storage tub. Need to start thinking about picking up a few pairs of maternity pants.
Food cravings/ aversions: Just one odd one that I haven't tried yet. But I think that mixing chocolate and strawberry syrup into a glass of milk would taste good.
"Morning" Sickness: For the most part gone. A few times I've felt a little queasy, but usually it's because I'm hungry.
Signs of Pregnancy: Tight clothes. I think I've also started to experience round ligament pain.
Stretch Marks: Nope.
Sleep: I hate our bed. It's small and the mattress is not comfortable at all. Eagerly awaiting our tax return so that we can get a new one.
Big things this week: I don't think there's been anything that momentous.
Gender prediction: Who knows. I think I'm trying to avoid predicting one way or the other because I don't want to be wrong.
Movement: Well the info says the baby is moving (and has been for a while) but I can't feel it yet.
Labor Pains: Nothing yet.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in. Wondering when I should take out my belly ring.
Wedding rings on or off? On. And a little loose.
Weekly Wisdom: I've got nothing. Unless you want to count, if you want a second ice cream bar, go for it.

Week 12 Journal

How far along? 12 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: Up another 2, so 6 lbs overall. (Down 1 from my doctor visit last week, but to be consistent I should only go with my scale.)
TP test: Just over 9 squares.
Maternity Clothes: Nope. Not yet. However, many of my pants are getting tighter. And I'm getting tired of all of my clothes. This morning I had to try on 3 pairs of pants before I could find ones that fit.
Food cravings/ aversions: Not that they are real cravings, but I'm very susceptible to food "advertising". Not so much from typical ads, but if I read something on a website, message board, etc and it mentions a food, I often then want it. Like sloppy joes and hot dogs. Oh, and I guess my real "craving" is canned peaches.
"Morning" Sickness: After saying that this was better, I have had a couple of days where I've felt a bit nauseous.
Signs of Pregnancy: Tight clothes.
Stretch Marks: Nope.
Sleep: Ugh. The crappy sleep has started. Most nights I've woken up. One night I was awake for about an hour. It's a mix of having to get up to pee and waking up because I'm just not comfortable.
Big things this week: Our news is now public! See earlier post about sharing the news.
Gender prediction: WAY too early to tell. Although we did have an offer from a dowser to tell us what we're having.
Movement: Nothing yet.
Labor Pains: Nothing yet.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in.
Wedding rings on or off? On. And a little loose.
Weekly Wisdom: Try to enjoy it. Time goes by very quickly. I was mentioning to Chris this week how quickly a month has gone by. It seems like we were just taking my 8 week belly pictures.

Week 11 Journal

How far along? 11 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: According to the dr's scale yesterday, up 7 lbs overall.
TP test: About 9.5 squares.
Maternity Clothes: Nope. Not yet. I did buy a belly band though, which is a tube-like piece of stretchy fabric designed to be worn over your unbuttoned pants and your belly. It holds the pants up and looks like you are wearing layered shirts.
Food cravings/ aversions: Just kind of tired of all food options. Nothing is appealing to me any more. Not that I'm avoiding food, but no cravings one way or the other.
"Morning" Sickness: Still generally feeling good. There was one day where I was feeling a little icky, but not bad. Toothbrushing is still a little iffy. Oh, and one night the smell of some dirty dishes was making me heave a bit.
Signs of Pregnancy: Tight clothes.
Stretch Marks: Nope.
Sleep: Could be better, but overall not all that bad.
Big things this week: Doctor's appointment where I got to hear the heartbeat again. Also I told my friend Mel. Haven't talked to her in a while so it was nice to reconnect.
Gender prediction: WAY too early to tell.
Movement: Nothing yet.
Labor Pains: Nothing yet.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in.
Wedding rings on or off? On. And a little loose.
Weekly Wisdom: Don't be so afraid to share the news with people. It's ok to tell them.

Week 10 Journal

How far along? 10 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: I finally started a notepad to keep track of this! Up one more pound from last week, so 5 pounds overall.
TP test: Still at 9 squares. Next week will probably be over.
Maternity Clothes: Nope. Not yet. About a year ago I lost some weight and dropped a pants size. However, I kept most of my old clothes. I'm having a harder time fitting into that smaller size and my jeans of the larger size also are a bit snug. Otherwise, more or less ok. I am starting to do some online window shopping for maternity clothes though.
Food cravings/ aversions: Last night it was sweet potato fries, but otherwise I don't think I've been craving anything.
"Morning" Sickness: I've felt so much better this past week! Toothbrushing is still a little iffy, but overall I feel good.
Signs of Pregnancy: Tight clothes. A little tired, but not too bad.
Stretch Marks: Nope.
Sleep: Could be better, but overall not all that bad.
Big things this week: Last Friday we announced to our "Game Night" friends that I'm pregnant. The ones who have kids already started to think of what gear they still have that could be passed on, and the one without kids got excited. So excited, in fact, that she told two other friends on their way over to our house for Easter brunch.
Gender prediction: WAY too early to tell.
Movement: Nothing yet.
Labor Pains: Nothing yet.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in.
Wedding rings on or off? On. And a little loose.
Weekly Wisdom: Enjoy it. And don't worry so much about sharing the news. (I'm still a little paranoid that something bad is going to happen.)

Week 9 Journal

How far along? 9 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: About the same as last week.
TP test: Still at 9 squares. Although I did this last night as well, and was 9.5 squares then do to my evening bloat.
Maternity Clothes: Nope. Not yet.
Food cravings/ aversions: I seem to be getting tired of everything these days. Although I'm eating, nothing really appeals to me.
"Morning" Sickness: Perhaps feeling mildly better. Tooth brushing was really bad- I threw up a couple of times from that- but after switching toothpastes it is mildly better.
Signs of Pregnancy: Still tired, but perhaps not as bad. Certainly not going to bed at 9:00 anymore. I definitely look more pregnant in the evening, but it's mostly just bloat.
Stretch Marks: Nope.
Sleep: Could be better, but overall not all that bad.
Big things this week: I told my hairdresser on Saturday. She was VERY excited.
Gender prediction: WAY too early to tell.
Movement: Nothing yet.
Labor Pains: Nothing yet.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in.
Wedding rings on or off? On. And a little loose.
Weekly Wisdom: Don't dwell on feeling miserable. It won't last forever.

Week 8 Journal

How far along? 8 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: I think the same as last week. I need to start writing these numbers down.
TP test: Still at 9 squares.
Maternity Clothes: Nope. Not yet.
Food cravings/ aversions: Still liking the greasy/ fried foods, but trying to resist a bit and eat at least a little healthier.
"Morning" Sickness: Horrible. Almost constant queasiness. Really ready for this part of pregnancy to be over. Brushing my teeth seems to be difficult. Some times it starts to make me gag.
Signs of Pregnancy: Tired. Still. A co-worker has commented on different days how I look tired. Wish I could tell her why, but we're still waiting a bit to share the news with everyone.
Stretch Marks: Nope.
Sleep: Could be better, but overall not all that bad.
Big things this week: Told one of our friends at Game Night on Saturday and made her promise that if she felt the need to tell her husband that he COULDN'T share it with his co-workers who are other friends of ours. Would have resisted telling her, but she would have guessed it anyway. She was asking pointed questions.
Milestones/Fun Moments: We went to a Baby Expo on Sunday. Not as large as I thought it might be, but still overwhelming. Got a number of free samples though, so altogether not bad.

Week 7 Journal- Redux

How far along? 7 weeks... again. This is because my estimated due date got changed.
Total weight gain/loss: Up 3 pounds at the moment.
TP test: 9 squares.
Maternity Clothes: Nope. Not yet.
Food cravings/ aversions: Love me some greasy good. Burgers, fries, etc. Grilled cheese seems to be my staple. I can barely stand the thought of soup, which had been my daily lunch staple.
"Morning" Sickness: Got sick once. Otherwise feeling lots of queasiness. This used to hit me especially in the afternoons, but the past couple of days I've felt this way in the morning as well.
Signs of Pregnancy: Tired. A lot. Going to bed ridiculously early and still wanting an afternoon nap. Also the nausea.
Stretch Marks: Nope.
Sleep: Keep waking up in the middle of the night. Weird dream last night about someone from my church announcing loudly that I was pregnant and me getting very upset since the info wasn't public yet.
Big things this week: Ultrasound! Got to see the blob and also heard the heartbeat.
Gender prediction: WAY too early to tell.
Movement: Nothing yet.
Labor Pains: Nothing yet.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in.
Wedding rings on or off? On. And a little loose.
Weekly Wisdom: Try to relax and make the most of it.
Milestones/Fun Moments: Got to see the little blueberry during the ultrasound.

Week 7 Journal

How far along? 7 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Up 3 pounds at the moment.
TP test: Same as last week- 8 squares.
Maternity Clothes: Nope. Not yet.
Food cravings/ aversions: I've been craving greasy foods a bit- grilled cheese, Burger King, etc. I used to have soup for lunch every day, but later this week just the thought of it wasn't sitting well with me.
"Morning" Sickness: Haven't gotten sick yet, but feeling a bit queasy throughout the day.
Signs of Pregnancy: Tired. A lot. Going to bed ridiculously early and still wanting an afternoon nap.
Stretch Marks: Nope.
Sleep: Sleep is ok. Trying to get into the habit of sleeping on my left side. This is difficult for me.
Big things this week: Had my first doctor appointment, although it was only with the nurse.
Gender prediction: WAY too early to tell.
Movement: Nothing yet.
Labor Pains: Nothing yet.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in.
Wedding rings on or off? On. And a little loose.
Weekly Wisdom: I've heard there are two kinds of women- those who enjoy being pregnant and those who hate it. I'm starting to think that I'm one of the latter. So far I'm not liking how it makes me feel.
Milestones/Fun Moments: First appointment.

Week 6 journal

How far along? 6 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: no change
TP test: 8 squares
Maternity Clothes: Nope. Not yet.
"Morning" Sickness: The pain my my abdomen (felt like I had done 100s of crunches) is finally getting better!
Signs of Pregnancy: Tired. A lot.
Stretch Marks: Nope.
Sleep: Sleep is ok. Trying to get into the habit of sleeping on my left side. This is difficult for me.
Best moment this week: We told the family last weekend and that was pretty good.
Worst moment this week: The sudden and instant hunger. One minute I'm fine, the next I'm starving.
Gender prediction: WAY too early to tell. I did take a Chinese gender prediction test (that said its results are 50/50) which said boy.
Movement: Nothing yet.
Labor Pains: Nothing yet.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in.
Wedding rings on or off? On. And a little loose.
What I'm going to miss/What I can't wait for: Excited about my first appointment on Tuesday- with the nurse.
Weekly Wisdom: Enjoy it.
Milestones/Fun Moments: We went to Babies R Us last night to just sort of get the lay of the land with what products are out there and what we like/dislike. Hopefully this will make the registering process a little easier when we get to that point.
What we need to do: We've started kind of looking at various products to try to gleam what we'll want to register for.
Chris reminded me that at one point I agreed that I can pick out whatever I want (in terms of colors, patterns, etc) as long as I let Chris put everything together.

Week 4

So when a friend of mine was pregnant she kept a weekly journal on her blog with these stats. Thought I would give it a whirl.

How far along?
4 weeks, 5 days. Although I think this may change once I go and visit the doctor/nurse.
Total weight gain/loss: Hmmm.... it's been a while since I've been on a scale. I should probably do that tonight to get a "base line". Unfortunately there really isn't a convenient place in the new house to keep the scale. Or there is, but it's out of the way so to use it I need to pull it out from under some storage drawers, move the bathmat, and try to find the level spot of the floor.
TP test: I haven't done this one yet, but it's how many squares of toilet paper does it take to go around your belly. Often done as a guessing game at showers.
Maternity Clothes: Nope. Not yet.
"Morning" Sickness: Weird feeling in my stomach that started almost as soon as I took the first pregnancy test. At first I thought it was nerves/ butterflies, but it's now been there for 3 days. Not sure if it's psychosomatic or something else.
Signs of Pregnancy: Positive pregnancy tests!
Stretch Marks: Nope.
Sleep: Ok except for Monday night when I was so wound up from having just found out I was pregnant.
Best moment this week: There are a few...
Telling Chris. "Are you kidding me?!"
Seeing the positive line appear on the pregnancy test.
Calling my doctor to verify results of the blood test and being told that I was, in fact, pregnant.
Worst moment this week: Stomach pains.
Gender prediction: WAY too early to tell.
Movement: Nothing yet.
Labor Pains: Nothing yet.
Belly Button in or out? Definitely in.
Wedding rings on or off? On. And a little loose.
What I'm going to miss/What I can't wait for: Can't wait to start the doctor appointments. Makes it a bit more real. Also looking forward to shopping for the bambino.
I'm going to miss ice skating, but I think I can still do that for a couple more months. We'll see.
Weekly Wisdom: Enjoy it.
Milestones/Fun Moments: Telling Chris
What we need to do: Everything! But at the same time, we don't need to be doing too much at this point.
